College Wildlife Class Project
I really hope that isn't "our" grey fox! Most of these pics were taken yesterday as Alan and his class partner crawled around the farm in between rain showers taking photos of animal signs for class. Others were taken during the fencing trip. As you can see we have lots of wildlife on our place, and they spend their time eating each other and generally having a great time. The guys saw nine tom turkeys in full strut mode.
But I really hope that isn't our fox!
Or her pups.....

"dropping" of all kinds......i'd kinda be afraid to go out there alone...might get eaten by something..lol
Amazing what goes on around us!
Busy place. Hope it's not your fox.
Awesome photos - A+ for sure. I'm thinking positive, it's not your fox.
Anon, yeah, last night we were up getting some heifers down that a certain someone let out....again....
And something big and black ran past Alan back up the hill (this was about 8:30 PM by the way). He didn't see it because he had just gotten a thistle in his eye.
However, I did.
Thought it was a heifer
It wasn't
Dani, it is a lot wilder out there than we think sometimes. I am amazed how many deer have been eaten by the coyotes, but I am thinking they were knocked down by hunters and served up on the wild dog menu
FC, me too. Although she ate all our berries, we loved seeing her!
Teri, thanks for the kind thoughts and words. We can hope. It was quite some distance back and she hangs around down here so there is hope.
Tell you what.
Living in the country amid wild things doesn't permit a Disney or Hallmark view of nature.
Yikes.
Those look like deer legs?
Yikes.
Cathy, very true. They are deer legs and they were right down in the field right next to the house. I think they came from a fawn that the coyotes took down. The grass was all matted down around them where they had been chewing on them. I wish more people understood that this is how animals are in nature rather than romanticizing them....
I know. I know. I try for the serene circle of life philosophy. My spine needs some stiffening because I usually come up short and just want to bawl.
I'm not so ungrateful as to not realize that crying over a dead fawn is the luxury my soft life-style has given me.
Grateful every day.
Huh! I thought I left a comment on this post about the gray foxes that we have been seeing in MI this year. Guess it either didn't stick or the computer burped. You can see it at http://getoffthecouchnews.blogspot.com/2008/11/gray-fox-seen-in-mason-manistee.html
