If By Chance You Are
Here is a picture of a whole batch of Montgomerys...including my parents, some favorite aunts and uncles and all sorts of other related folks. They gather in Harpursville every year to celebrate being family. This year they had a speaker on the participation of the regiments of a number of ancestors in the Civil War. (Help me out here Mom, I never remember them).

Hello, Happy Family!

The regiment was the 137th NY Volunteers. Your great great grandfather, Medad, and his brother Eugene were both in the Regiment. The regiment was successful in holding the line at Culps hill, Gettysburg, and participated in the "Battle above the Clouds." Later in the war, the were with Sherman in his march to the sea. David Cleutz, and his wife Terri, of Binghampton NY gave the talk. He has written two books on the 137th, and currently has another about ready for publication. They are very nice people and we enjoyed the day very much. Terri took the picture with my camera. Russell Montgomery, was the oldest one there. He is on the left standing. Aislen Grace McNamerra was the youngest. She is Erin & Pat's baby, sister to DeClan in the front row.
Hey, your ancestors probably fought mine in the war, but it's good that we can all get along nowdays, LOL.
Have you been to any of the battlefields where your ancestors fought? It really makes history come alive.
Thanks alot for the posting, thank god its not a close up.
Fascinating and cool! I love history and it's best with family involved!
Linda, guess they had a great time and I am glad. we were haying so we missed it
Mom, thank you. I will now have the information where I can find it! I can never remember.
Rurality, I never have, but I would like to. The boss is a Civil War buff so to speak. We would like, the good Lord willing and the crik don't rise, to perhaps take a trip for our 25th anniversary to Gettysburg for him and Virginia Beach(or any other ocean place) for me. Probably we will be farming it up and too busy as is normal, but we are talking about it at least...that would be next year.
LIsa, nice pic though! Not sorry not to be in it though. How I hate having my picture taken and my perceptions shattered. lol
Teri, it is interesting isn't it? Thanks
