New York Chainsaw Massacre
No humans were harmed in the destruction of this very expensive, perfectly tuned and sharpened, well-loved by its owner, chainsaw. I am very thankful for that.
Sure wish the boss had a better aim when felling trees though, and so does Alan, whose best saw this once was......sigh.......
You can take it to the saw shop and tell them it self destructed, but they're funny about those things and'll probably deny it's a warranty issue. They may even make jest about your credibility.
Maybe you can run a story in the paper about how your faithful chainsaw lost it's life saving you from a crazed man eating tree, and Husky will send you a new one for advertising rights to the story.
I'm an old logger, and you just have to keep your sense of humor about you, but then you already know that. All of us Rednecks, who earn our livings by the sweat of our brows pretty much understand that.
Give the boy an extra cookie with his coffee, maybe a pat on the back, and tell him he'll have another saw one day;-)
word verification braear=brayer an ass, or bra ear??
Do saws have workers comp? When it comes to trees always be glad it wasn't you - they don't take prisoners. Dag -gum, laugh a little, show the saw to your buddies, work safe and have fun. - Bill
An expensive lesson learned: Never put anything down within the reach of the crown of the tree you are felling if you do not wish to see said object pulverized to smithereens.
Glad it wasn't the tractor (it's awfully hard trying to explain how you got pinned to the winch -- it must be hell trying to explain how you flattened a $30,000 tractor...).
Word verification: "upworst" - recently USDA condemned this sausage curing technique...
AKA, thanks for a good laugh...heck a couple of them. Stuff does happen and if you have a lot of stuff a lot of it happens sadly. I feel bad for him because he earned the saw, took good care of it and really needs it for work...and it was in no way his doing that it got broken...but I am sure glad no one was hurt
Jeffro, it did indeed
Bill, I am incredibly grateful no one was hurt. The boss was HOLDING that saw when the tree started to go the wrong way so...
Dani, me too!
Nita, we need to hear the pick up story....
Linda, which when it comes right down to it is what matter most of all
WW, precisely!
Linda, it was a sad time....but at least they both got to come home and tell the tale
Joated, actually this saw was RUNNING, in the boss's hands when this catastrophe took place. Alan let him use his saw to take down a massive cherry tree and it swung on the stump, grabbed the saw and went the wrong way. How he survived is beyond me, but he did...the kid is actually pretty careful about leaving things where the trees can get them since they dropped a tree on my .22 (which he had borrowed from me)
Wil, I too am glad it was not a tractor! And I get the biggest kick out of the word verifications too. Some of them are funny as all get out.
Teri, he was pretty unhappy. He has to work hard to get his stuff and this was in no way his fault...other than loaning his dad the saw in the first place.
Steve, I can't get past how close it was to being a real tragedy with people involved. Wish the boss would stick to easier trees than this one was
Mrs. M gotcha...any time you would like to see the innards in more detail...he takes them apart all the time, lol, just give us a call and stop by.

Damn! Evidently his name isn't Paul Bunyon!
As Forrest Gump would say....."Stuff Happens"

Good to hear no one was injured.

I saw this on FB and I could feel his sadness. Ouch.
Oh yeah, this one's definitely all fuggered up for sure. Damn shame. Time for a deep breath. Or two.
Ouch. But kinda cool to see the inside of one like that. Sure beats having to break mine to see what it looks like. ;)
JB, it really isn't alas
