Did We Find the Great Cable Caper Perpetrator

Maybe yes, maybe no. Do you remember this story?

The person that the story above is about has only been on this farm two times....that we can prove.

Once was right before that telephone pole walked away.

The other time was yesterday morning at the almost exact time that the power cables were cut and stolen.

Did he come back looking for more things to steal and find the milk truck here and the boss and Liz delivering a calf, and so claim to be selling hay to look innocent?

Or was he in fact innocent? Just a coincidence that we haven't seen him here since 2006 and suddenly he shows up at the scene of our little daylight burglary drama?

I dunno...I am not much one to believe in coincidences the size of Chicago...can't prove a thing, I know what I think....

*****Oh, and a little addendum to the power pole story. The person in question was up at Hand's just after we noticed the pole missing complaining to all who would listen about how a kid that worked for him cut a new pole he got too short for the job he "got" it for........bwaahahahahaha....

When Terry worked for the power company, the last year he was there, copper prices soared. Well, this one guy who has a junk yard with trailer houses he rents out to others in sad shape, called and said his power was out.

So Terry and his crew head overthere to find out the idiot had cut the wire to meter. ( The crew was stunned) How this idiot cut the wire without being shocked was a mystery.

Anyway the upshot of the whole deal was they didn't put the wire back until the guy furnished the wire. Last I heard he was still without power and had to buy a generator.

If he ever gets his wire the fee to wire him back in and to turn his power on will set him back until the turn of the century. Stupid man...all for the price of copper.

Sorry to hear about your theft. That just ain't right. Our small business has had multiple breakins', with two $5,000.00 paint stripers and various other expensive tools stolen, once a generator was with us not 20 feet away in the daylight! It's gotten to where it's not worth turning it in to the insurance ..the premiums have gone up to high! It just sucks that some people think it's ok to make a quick buck off someone else's hard work. But I can see where having someone take something from your home property could make you feel real lousy for many reasons. Boy ..I believe the Lord has some lessons to teach there.

ps I love the way you view nature..you are so aware!

Odd, t'aint it... it's to bad he didn't step in something so you could at least check the shoe sizes to one another... Maybe you should invite him over for some special brownies... :) *wickedly chuckling*

So, where is the alleged perp's picture? and of his truck, and a DNA sample for future criminal conduct? You could have gotten a picture, did you call the sheriff?

TC! That's too creepy. Someone you know?

And he's got the nerve to do it in the daylight with you on the premises and more than once.!?

Are we talking mental insanity, here?

Is this guy dangerous?

Be careful, my friend.

Linda, what an idiot! I read that in a certain Florida city, known for high crime, thieves actually get into the bases of the light poles and steal the copper wire...a folly that is fatal for some of them

CTG, the exact thought I had. HOW can they do that? I just don't understand

FAithful, thanks for your kind words. I was saddened to read what your family has to cope with in terms of theft. That is just horrible!

Sara, actually he did, but the tracks weren't really clear enough to do anything about, had the police been interested in making that big an effort over a few hundred bucks.

Earl, unfortunately I was at the house when he came. I do take the camera over when things like this are going on, but I just wasn't there...and although the police were sympathetic, they held little hope for recovery

Cathy, of course we can't prove a thing, but his reputation precedes him so to speak. If he shows up again the boss will order him to leave our property and not return. Then we can have him arrested for trespassing if we see him again. Of course this time he drove right past a no trespassing sign we have posted at the bottom of the driveway so we can press charges on people who come in uninvited. However, the policemen (who told us to put the sign there last year when we had trouble) say now that it doesn't matter that he drove past it.
