there was an unpublized promo event in kent, ohio a few years ago - some budweiser bigwig is from there, and the clydesdales were scheduled to be in cleveland anyway, so someone arranged for the budweiser beer to be delivered to the downtown kent bars via the horses. it was so so so cool!
Mom, there were some amazing Percherons, but not in the six-horse. Wish I had taken some photos for you
Anon, thank you. wish it could have been longer
Rev Paul, heard that at the state fair they had a number of big hitches and had each one come in the ring, one at a time, to do their best things. Would have loved to have seen that!
Linda, thanks...I have driven a pair a couple of times, but never more than that. It must be something to handle six
Joated, wish the video could have been longer. Usually I go down to the end of the arena to shoot, but I was in the stands this time and the pillars and the people kept getting in the way so it is very short.
NYV, it was great to see you and yours. And thank you both for getting my pictures out and home for me. I really hate going over on the day after...it is kinda creepy. Sure was nice not to have to.
Ericka, that must have been simply amazing!!!! We had a lucky circumstance like that when Liz was a baby. We were at a fair in the southern part of the state watching the draft horse show when Dick Sparrow of 40-horse hitch fame drove by with his team. I think he had eight. He stopped, hitched up and put on an impromptu show for the spectators at the fair. It was beyond awesome and after having read about him for years it was amazing to actually see him drive.
Linda, I love to watch them! Some years the fair gets half a dozen big hitches, which is really something to see!
Isla G, thanks, wish it could have been longer, but people kept walking in front of me. I do have a little longer one I will put up on my other blog this week.
