Can't link to it this time, not on the freebie pages. However it is about one of my favorite authors, Ralph Moody.
And story (or storey) poles, both farmer version and government version. Gotta love the contrast. (be sure and scroll down on the latter to see the photos.)
Oh my, the mention of Ralph Moody brings back memories of reading Little Britches with a flashlight under the covers because Mom said bedtime and I couldn't stop reading. Thanks for the memory. Thanks also for the two definitions. I used to edit a magazine for Skidmore College, and I had to rewrite articles written in over-technical language into something that ordinary educated people might actually read.
ReplyDeleteWW, oh, I am so happy to hear from someone else who enjoyed him too. The older I get, the more his books mean to me. I have owned Horse of a Different Color since I was a kid and dad had the book store open in Fonda. I thought it was a horse story. lol Now I love it for its common sense approach to disaster. Mr. Moody perfected git er done long before folks made a joke of the concept. What an interesting and challenging job that translating must have been!
