Same Old, Same Old
It is kinda hard to find anything interesting to write about these days. We certainly keep busy...yesterday the boss fixed stalls to bring some heifers into the cow barn. We moved calves, cleaned as always, dragged in hay off round bales and fed it out. Bought another load of round bales (ouch), and prayed for green grass and soon.
Alan has some time home from his job...as the newest guy on the roster he has to wait his turn for work. He is handy to have around and helped the boss replace a stubborn stall divider the beef steer wrecked and rebuilt Mandy and Blitz's tie rail. Since Blitz had worked the rail loose enough that she could step right up into the manger and steal feed from Broadway and Dalkeith across the barn, it was a much needed repair.
These are all things that are engaging enough when you are doing them, but they don't exactly make for thrilling reading later....it's all right by me though. I would rather soldier along doing the boring jobs day after day than run around coping with crisis after crisis, which is a pretty normal situation on a farm, especially when there are animals involved.

Oh, but you are so wrong! We love to hear about your day-to-day adventures. It worries me when you don't post. I used to check your blog every morning before I went to work and it made my day better. I am a retired nurse now, but still read you every a.m. Rose
I like anything you have to say also. Be thankful for a normal day when they come, right? Did you spider plant survive the cold house? I keep one, they are suppose to clean the in house air, linda
Here's an idea that you (might) like: Write some fictional farm adventure stories and toss them in a hat along with true farm adventure stories. Then pick a day of the week... maybe Tuesday, and call it "Tuesday's True or False." You could post a story and let readers comment on whether it's true or false. Then you could reveal the truth the next day, along with the tally of how many readers were right/wrong.
i love you day to day adventures, just keep telling us what is going on, what you are cooking andwe will keep reading and waiting for the next chapter in your life.
Rose, thank you for that. I usually feel pretty boring when days are just routine, especially in the winter when nothing is happening but chores. Thanks for reading!
Linda, all but one spider plant did okay. I lost some small jades, cacti and aloes, but I hated the cacti and just didn't have the heart to toss them, and saved some other aloes. The living room looks pretty funny with my still huge collection of plants all huddled in the corner. Thanks
Cathy, thanks, and we are indeed. It sure was fantastic to have him and Liz to help with getting those youngsters in the barn. They are big, some well over a thousand pounds and they weren't sure they wanted to cooperate.
Dani, thank you and ditto. Countdown to puppies is going on in my head. I dream about puppies a lot...wild babies too, and ducks and geese and the ocean...
Jan, thanks, you are certainly no slacker, but thanks very much
Susan, what a neat idea! I will have to give it some thought...I would like to do it but am lazy as a dog. lol. thanks!
anon, thank you. that is a very nice sentiment and I am truly flattered. Thanks for reading and for taking time to comment.

Agree with the gals above!
Your dull day would be a very very busy interesting day in my suburban neighborhood.
Enjoy your visit with your fine son.
We love stopping in and reading about your day.
Whatever you write about, I always feel like a slacker. A same old day on a farm is more interesting than any day in a city.
