It's Working!
Thank you to all you dear, sweet people who helped me in my attempt to deal with Site Meter's recent failure. Just minutes before I opened the template to send it to a friend to remove the feature completely, it began working again......so I guess we are in wait and see mode for now. But thanks so much for being willing to help and for teaching me, via your comments, more than I previously knew about dealing with HTML and the template.
yes, but is it correct? Mine was so far off, even just adding up their own figures showed it to be off by several hundred visits (which is a big deal for me lol) and that doesn't take into account the data that was missing from over a 24hr period.
Ruth, that I can't answer, although I have long suspected that it under counts severely and is very inaccurate on out clicks at the very least. I will show two or three to a story I link to and read their comments that were plainly referred by me and see a dozen. I guess I will leave it there for now, but not trust it much. I am going to keep Stat Counter too, because it seems much more thorough. Thanks so much for offering to clean up my template from the Site meter mess. I have edited the HTML several times back before Blogger had the side bar widgets, but I did not know at all what I was doing...and still don't.
yah, and trying to go back and figure out if yours is right...mine was easy since I'd only been on that version of the blog this year so doing the math was easy.

Ruth, I am not very pleased with it and haven't been for a while now. It definitely misses a lot of out clicks and such.
