I like English sparrows almost as much as I like the NYS Legislture |
With Upstate that is a real shame. Even as this is typed our legislators are passing rules that will regulate guns, in many cases for simple cosmetic features. Of course these laws will only affect the law-abiding....
Meanwhile, commentary and polls around the region range from 85-90+% AGAINST these new measures. Gun shows are busier than ever, with people eager to show their support for the Second Amendment. Waiting lines an hour long for admittance are not uncommon.
Does anyone in the capital either know or care what their citizens want?
Sadly, the answer is obviously no.
And even more sadly, by a week or so from now, some new hot story du jour will have taken center stage and by next November everyone will gleefully reelect these clowns.
Maybe it is time to move west.

Some of these politicians are going to be shocked ... shocked, I say ... when the people revolt.
And no matter how it's explained, they won't understand why.
We sure have been thinking about it!
It crosses my mind more and more...
Rev. Paul, as usual, no one for whom I voted had anything to do with this
Lisa, I love NY, a truly beautiful state, but the government is so bad
Ruth, Wyoming kinda looks good. lol
The gun counters in central Ohio are 4 people deep.
Good law-abiding citizens preparing.
(You're sure you don't need a few extra English Sparrows? I've got a couple dozen I can spare. And hey! They're the best little fertilizer makers - evah!)
CAthy, same here in NY. If the legislators are looking for criminals they don't even need to leave their chambers. And, really, thank you ever so, but we have enough for now.
Don't move too far west. Sacramento is way out of touch with reality.
A few years back (prior to the birth of my second and third kids), I read your blog regularly. This past August, my family and I moved from Yates County to the state of Wyoming. Quite simply, we had had enough. Now that we're here, I wish we had moved sooner. Life is too short to live under the yoke of an oppressive government like that found in New York. Nowhere is perfect, but the differences between New York and certain western states is remarkable. Good luck.
Thinking, wow, that is interesting. How do you like the country? We visited Wyoming years ago, and although I loved the scenery, the wildlife and the people, it seemed kind of bare....My whole family seems to be thinking of leaving NY and they are all state shopping so to speak.
