I Hate Shipping Cows
Bad enough when you have your own truck and trailer. Then at least your stock gets a careful, gentle ride to the sale barn.
However, when you don't have a truck, you have to rely on a trucker. Some of them are great. Some of them are not so great. Today our poor cow got stuffed in the front compartment of a two-compartment trailer with someone else's mean, miserable cow, who proceeded to pound on her as long as the trailer was in our driveway.
Poor thing. Not a darned thing to be done about it either. It just is what it is.

UGH! If we have just a few head to go to auction, we take them ourselves. If we have a semi coming to take calves, cows whatever. I am usually the one that loads the truck. If there is an unruly trucker that gets wild with a hot shot or words, I don't have a problem barking at them! lol! These cows have been treated with the utmost respect even as they go on a truck. Its always good girl, what a pretty cow, load up. Patience. The slower you go, the faster you get it done. :)
Sorry. I know your gently heart hurts.
. . . gentle . . . . :(
CDH, this guy is hopeless. he made the boss get on his trailer and sort the cows around for him. Cant even get backed up to the barn door right half the time.
Cathy, I felt really sorry for that cow. The one on the trailer was a great big crazy thing. He should have kept them in separate compartments.
Robert, and this guy is one of those. Seems we're stuck with him though. not too many truckers working out of the sale barn any more.
Ugh, we did the same yesterday as well. It was only one so we did the hauling, but still it's tough to do especially with the old girls who have gave so much for so long.

Golly that just makes me sick. I wish there was a panel in between could have helped some.
