First Frost
It appears that we has one. It is cold out there, and I am here to tell you I am grateful for that great big oak log our logger left in the old apple orchard back in the sixty-acre lot. Very grateful. Although we have had a couple of small fires in the wood stove, we didn't turn the fan on until yesterday. Looks like it will be spinning a lot now though. Brr..... I'm not complaining. The best weather of the year has graced October, and we have enjoyed it while it lasted.
Never got above 55 here yesterday and don't iexpect it to pass 50 today. A little cloud cover provided a blanket to keep the temps above the freezing point, however so we missed the frost that was expected and maybe the snow flurries too.
It HAS been a lovely fall but all things come to an end eventually and winter is right around the corner. I just hope it comes to a full stop before making the turn.

Yes . . . we have to be grateful for the lovely October . . .
But this first frost is always a little wince-making.
Ours is due in tonight :(
