Actually there were two of them. The boss saw them from the big windows.

The first shots are taken from those windows. Silly deers were right next to the corner of the house eating weeds under the mulberry trees.

When I stepped out on the back porch and down into the driveway, they didn't even look at me or flag their tails....just faded into the brush and waited for me to go away.

Wish they would leave their ticks somewhere else though.

I bet there's a baby fawn curled in the grass somewhere nearby. As for the ticks, I read that Opossums are great at hoovering up ticks as they waddle along, then destroying nearly all of them as they groom. Maybe you could import some to patrol your fields. Turkeys are good at eating ticks, too.
Ticks....the bane of summer. Why don't those things die in winter?

Jacqueline, we have lots of possums, but they seem to prefer chicken. lol Lots of turkeys too, nesting right up next to the buildings. I have been wondering about this doe. If she is the same one, and I think she is, she had two yearling fawns still nursing all summer. This year she is accompanied by a slightly smaller doe...maybe her two-year-old daughter? I think she may be very old and barren. If so she certainly lives a good life
Linda, I don't know the answer, although I sure wish I did. We didn't used to have them at all. as kids we rolled around in the grass and ran through the bushes and NEVER saw a single one. Now you can't even walk across the lawn without bug spray.
Cathy, she is pretty. We have a huge number of deer and turkeys right down by the buildings...like 17 deer at one time. Someone is shooting something out there, just at dusk, with a really big rifle. I think they feel safer down here.
