Digging

We dug the garlic yesterday. When we came home from camp it wasn't ready but just in those few days suddenly it was.

It is one of my favorite crops as long as I can get the gumption to plant it in October when it needs to go in. I am usually pretty well over gardening by then.

Good thing the writing and most of the bookkeeping is done for the week because there are beans and beans and beans out there and a pretty good bunch of squash too.

So guess what we are doing today....

OH beans....and garlic yum........ we make beans with bacon and onions fried up gently brown and cook lots of them then dump in beans..lots of them and bit of water to keep them moist and keep adding a bit if needed and simmer...good supper. Love the green of everything!!! --Merri

Merri, oh, how I love this time of year. Lots of work, but so many good things to eat!

Linda, it is absurdly green even for here. Oddly enough, despite all the rain the ground is very dry. Go figure..

I haven't been out to the garden since before vacation. I really hate to even take a look now that I have the time to get to it. Garlic, wish I had some to pick. How do you grow it and plant? Yours looks great.

Lisa, we have had so much varmint damage it is ridiculous. Wish we dared leave a dog loose to keep them away. We used to let Tucker and Beethoven run and they kept them at bay. Liz lost all her brassicas in one night and the bunnies are eating the bottom halves of all my beans!
