Lore has it that if there is more orange than black on a woolly bear caterpillar that there won't be a lot of snow in the coming winter. Could be a good winter for you! Ours have more black than orange.

I love that old folk tale and still look (and save Woollybears) BUT
it's been said scientifically that the brown strip being large is really a young caterpillar and brown strip being an older well-fed caterpillar.
