Essential
Even though it is only March our local farmers are on the land. They are fertilizing, fitting ground, getting everything ready to plant, sometimes even when it is raining.
Whether Amish or English they are not stopping in their all-important quest to grow food for everyone.
My heart lifts to see the rounded backs of rich black furrows rolling out behind the plows and even to smell the sharp tang of valuable organic material sequestered from cows involved in producing dairy products.
While the world descends ever deeper and ever faster into a whirling spiral of terror, something is still right and strong.
i am ever so grateful for farmers and not just because I was one once.
Hats off to our neighbors with tractors and teams.
Hope you are all staying safe and strong. Much love from Northview Farm.

+1, if not more. I miss the sights, sounds, and even the smells of farm country.
One of those giant liquefied manure trailers hauled by a giant tractor passed by me going the other way when I was out on my motorcycle last Friday. They have a tendency to leave quite a trail of poo down the road behind them, so I was on the look out for it.
We responded to a fiery car crash a couple of months ago, caused by a manure slick on the road. Luckily no one was injured.
Love you daughter. Hang in there. The Good Lord Hears Our Lament! Love Mom
What a beautiful inspiring post! Me...I am like you...I love being back 'out on the land'
"That my dear, is the smell of money!" I sure do miss it. :(

Poetry - pure poetry. Thank you for taking my heart there too.
Rev. Paul, we may be retired but I still love it!
Witold, yow! sorry to read that. We encounter the same deal pretty often. Some farms are much better than others about cleanup.
Mom, love you too. Doing my best here...
Linda, thanks, we had a mess of rain that set things back a bit but it is gorgeous today.
Nursejoan, lol, that it what they told us when we went through hog farming country a few years ago. Money can be pretty pungent.
Cathy, thanks, your kind words mean a lot. Hope you and Keith are doing well. We are just taking it day by day.
