Drag Racing in America

These young gents were weaving all over the road, really pounding down the pavement until they met the lady in the third wagon.

Somewhat subdued after that, but I wish you could have seen the horse pulling the front  wagon. Amish Thunder bird boy.

As always, I enjoy your posts and pictures--FWIW this one reminded me:

My grandfather wrote a short memoir of his father, who was a Presbyterian minister in Illinois in the mid 1800's (not the regular Presbyterians, the Covenanters for those who know the difference).

The most telling part of his memoir was his description of his father driving their team and wagon and meeting others on the road. On Sundays, when of course he was preaching, he'd be proper and restrained, and other teams could pass him, though he gritted his teeth. But on weekdays, he'd try to be king of the road, allowing no one to pass, standing up with his beard flowing in the wind as he urged his team on.

Oh Bill, that is great. Reminds me of someone I used to know! Hello daughter! Thank you for running errands for us this morning. It was nice to see you, if from a distance. I can't wait until I can give you a big hug!!!! Love, Mom

Bill, what a vivid picture your story paints! I would love to have seen him!

Mom, wasn't that an excellent tale! We are happy to help you avoid going out in these awful times. Scary! And I was just missing our hugs this morning. They are so grounding and good. Love you greatly!
