Wow! What a great bird week you had! We used to get both Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawks visiting our backyard to feast on the English Sparrows and Mourning Doves crowding the feeders, but since our new neighbor cut down all the tall trees surrounding our yard, the hawks don't come any more. I think they needed the tall trees to lurk in and observe from before swooping down for the kill. All God's children gotta eat! Sadly, since we lost all those trees, we don't even get Titmice or Chickadees.
Cathy, been having a great time birding both with a good friend and with Ralph. She found the gull and fired us a message, as she was on the road. We hurried back to town in time to see it. Yay!

Jacqueline, how terribly sad about your yard. It must be miserable. Do you have room to plant anything along your edges to make a little habitat? We let a lot of area around us go wild, which is why I guess that we have so many birds near the house. We are lucky enough to be far from all but one neighbor and so far they are benign.

Had to laugh at the swanus plasticus- my sister is looking for swan decoys to deter the Canada Geese from nesting on her mini lake on her property. Apparently they (decoys) are very expensive.
Shirley, Closest we got to real swans. LOL, I had no idea that swan decoys repelled geese! Good to know, as they can surely be pests. Thanks
