When do the meaningful inspections start?

More recalls

The more you read about the stuff we are importing, the worse the situation looks. I for one, am scrutinizing the labels on everything from boxes of cereal to bottles of shampoo. But how do you know where the stuff actually origninated when they have changed the way they write the labels? Istead of saying, "Made in the USA", they say assembled by so and so in the USA? From what? From where?

This stuff is labeled for ages four and up. Unreal.

Whoa! Who'd a thunk Ecstasy would be a good coating for toys?

Hi stacy, nice, huh? Kids toys made from poisonous drugs. How the heck do you protect yourself against such stuff?

I, too, am reading labels more often and more closely, and I don't like what I'm seeing. You're right; we have no idea where anything originates when a label says 'packed by...' or 'distributed by...' I had read that many vitamins are made in China, and that makes me a bit uneasy, for many foods are fortified somehow - including dairy products.

Not only do you have to watch for the latest poisons but lead is making a come back again as well. Consumer Report's says there is a significant amount of lead in certain toys again! But no only that, it's in some inexpensive jewelry and plastics.

NW, it is hard to know what is safe. I think about everything we use or eat....

WR, scary indeed. Makes you want to take up the homesteading lifestyle and grow and build your own...too busy though. lol
