LIfe revolves around

Corn this time of year....Chopping it. Changing tires when they go flat. Filling the ag bags. Feeding it to the cows. Bringing ears like these down for the piggies and the hens. Mud, mud, mud (we are so sick of mud.) Forty acres to go and the weather is getting worse every day. I can't wait until they are done and it is all in the bag.

Do you pick your corn on the cob? We combine the corn and then send it to the elevator, leaving only some for our animals.

Here's hoping that the mud dries and the corn flies!

Sorry about the mud, hopefully this farming year will be something to look back on, and not be how it is from now on.

Alas, the farmer's wife looks at corn a lot differently than somebody like me - who just takes pictures of it. I did a post on the same thing today. GMTA!

One of the great mysteries of life, and that I've given lots of thought, is why corn and lima beans marry together so well. I'm a huge succotash fan.

Linda, we chop ours for silage and just pick a few ears by hand for the smaller animals.

FC, I echo that for sure!

Matt, that is great. Hope you get some decent weather so you can get it all done. love you

Nita, if we ever have another year like this we are going to quit. We have had more trouble than I can even write about here...just one thing after another....

akagaga, your photos are simply gorgeous. What views you have!

Robert, I don't mind it now, in fact I like it, but my brothers and I thought my mother invented it to torture us when we were kids. lol

I'll claim the photos as my own, threecollie, but the view belongs to the overlook near Tribes Hill. :)

I have to admit - I don't miss chopping corn. Nor so I miss digging beets - which we'd be about done with now.

akagaga, thanks...beautiful wherever they were taken

Moos, I don't blame you. I am so sick of corn in all its manifestations that I could spit. Wish he would just go to doing hay and haylage and buy corn meal. I'll bet we would save money and I know we would save aggravation.
