I keep finding these in the washing machine. I gather them when I am outside....stick them in my pocket...
and forget them.

I enjoyed this section, but was wondering what the beans are? Are they scarlett runner beans?
Years ago my Great Aunt raised a bean she called Robin's Egg beans, she died before I could get some to start my own from. I have been looking for them ever since.

That migration picture made me laugh out loud!
What is it about burning wood: it triggers some deep-down pavlovian response in my mind, its a natural mood lifter. But also life and death come winter north of the Mason Dixon line.
Akagaga, I was surprised to see them out there, I'll tell you...first time I have ever had ducks on the garden pond!

FC, they are quite large and the flowers are so colorful. It isn't really cold by the thermometer here, but it is wet and raw and miserable. I already miss summer

Robert, you are sure right about burning wood. It is a terrible lot of work to heat a house this size with wood, but there is a tremendous satisfaction in it. Warmth sure is a basic survival essential here this time of year though. Sometimes you can't pile on enough clothes no matter what you do...
That's funny about the scarlet runner beans, we grew some last year and they kept finding their way into the washing machine too, along with the usual pocket change and earplugs.
