I am sorry. I don't mean to be hardhearted, but this is just nuts.
Chickens Rescued in Drug Raid Headed to Sanctuary. Flying to Indiana and driving a thousand miles in a rental van to rescue 40 scrawny chickens makes about as much sense as.....
"Chickens are delightful animals...." said one volunteer.

I understand your bewilderment.
The thing that scares me is that if I didn't keep a serious governor on my 'compassion settings' - I could be one of those ninnies.
And I have to add: God bless the ninnies ;-D
Even me with my crazy spoiled Girlz finds this to be nuts.
Ummm, wow...that's ridiculous! But I'm not a fan of the chicken. Evil lil suckers!
This is just nuts! However, laughable. I would like to know, will they be charged with animal abuse if the birds get stressed out and die on the way to their new home? And just what type of chickens were they? Around these parts if they are dealing drug, they are more than likely fighting birds. It's legal to RAISE fighting birds, just not fight them... shaking head...
What bothers me is the money spent on something foolish that could have been spent on something that was really important. Some people just don't know when to draw the line. They scare me.
Better watch out, 3C, or they'll be coming to rescue the Bambi in your freezer.
Chickens are soup. And all kinds of other things. But "delightful"?
Cathy, I have no problem with compassion. If they wanted to save the chickens fine...however, there must be somebody in Indiana that could take in those birds. As Deb says in a comment below, the money could have been much more wisely spent. How many hungry people are there in the world after all?
Dani, yeah, it is just crazy to waste that much money on chickens that could have just as well stayed in the state they were rescued in
The Wife, I like chickens, but I sure wouldn't spend thousands to move them to the Big Apple. lol
Sara, good question, and I have heard that about fighting birds. Odd
Deb, exactly what I thought. With all the disasters and hunger and misery in this world, it seems as if there are causes more important than relocating chickens. If they wanted to rescue them because they are so delightful, why not do it right in Indiana?
akagaga, believe me, I worry about that. lol, but I just couldn't resist this one
Joated, I wanted so bad to say in my post that I like chickens too..on the menu...but I was chicken. lol
I'm with you threecollie. I had an acquaintance message me telling me about it and asking if I wanted to adopt them. I guess I'm hard hearted too because the message (the entire thing) made me roll my eyes.
You know I adore my chickens, but somebody should have cooked those chickens up and fed the homeless.
teri, compassion is a wonderful thing and animals are wonderful companions....but common sense...we need common sense
