This is a neat little movie with some figures on what America's farmers produce that astonished me...and I research agriculture every day and read dozens of newsletters each week.

Life on a family farm in the wilds of Upstate New York

That should be the most played commercial on the television and the first thing they see on Capital hill every morning. Do you think it would do any good?
Thanks for sharing it - it was great :)
OK enjoyed it... but have a question. Of all the acreage farmed in this country, how much of it is owned by foreign country's?
After all a great number of feed lots are owned by the Japanese. I wonder if they import their own beef from their own feed lots?
That was a great video and I totally agree with DEB!
Nice little video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Very good, will report to my FB page
Have been following you for a little while now and want to say thank you for your beautiful photos and your wonderful thoughts. I am in a huge transition in my life right now and it is just one day at a time and I enjoy all the inspiration that others have to share. I use my blog as somewhat of a gratitude journal and as my eye on the prize so to speak and I love women who inspire which in turn empowers others. Many do not realize the impact that they have and I just wanted to share your little impact on me. I am the offspring of a Virginia dairy farmer and have my own little hobby farm going and will be working to defend the rights of farmers everywhere while securing my own place in the SW Va mountains. Thank You and keep sharing those beautiful pics.
Always, Shelly

Does this video scare the crap out of anyone else, or just me?
"in the next 50 years farmers will need to produce more food than the total produced in the previous 10,000 years"
Population growth cannot continue indefinitely at this rate. There's not enough land to grow the food, not enough fuel to plow, plant and harvest it all.
There won't be enough farmers either. Well heck, there aren't enough farmers now depending on how you look at it.
Deb, you have the right of it for sure
Sara, Can't answer that question, but there is sure a lot of family owned land around here. Good question
WW, thanks, me too
Joated, I am still amazed by it and I have watched it half a dozen times
WR, I see that you put it up, thanks!
Shelly, thank you so much for your kind and inspiring words and for being willing to defend farmers. I am so glad that you took a minute to comment!
bkc, I am more scared by the imminent demise of several kinds of farming in this country than by population. As nations grow wealthier, population growth seems to slow...and given the freedom to do so and enough reward to inspire them, I think America's farmers can do just about anything. Look at the increase in how many people each farmer can feed between the sixties and now. That is with many non-profitable years and under all kinds of attack from activists and assorted other zealots.
neat video, thanks for sharing.
i'm with bkc though - WAY WAY WAY too many people. i think everything else is a symtom of the problem of overpopulation. *sigh*
Ericka, thanks
