A Great Farm Safety Resource
NY State has a wonderful resource when it comes to staying safe on the farm. The New York Center for Agricultural Medicine provides a broad range of safety and health related services to the state's farmers.
An especially handy tool is their list of farm safety articles, which can be found here.
Lisa, I have always had a very high opinion of NYCAMH. They do good things for the farmer community, but I had no idea that this page existed. I was really tickled to find it when I was researching for the editors' message in the Farm Bureau newsletter, (which as I am sure you know, Liz produces, while I write a couple of the messages
Cathy, isn't it amazing! I was so tickled to find it when I was researching for another project. I have only seen giant hog weed once on a road side, some years ago...thankfully. Sounds like awful stuff. We have acres of cow parsley though (including the darned lawn) and any of us who mow fight that photo-sensitive thing it does to you. I have scars from the blisters and so does Alan.

I book marked that page. Thanks.
Absolutely amazing the amount of information out there.
I found this in the second link:
"The Dangers of Giant Hogweed"
Holy Kamoly!
I googled images of it and it is a beaut!
I don't think I've seen it here in Ohio. Have you got it?

No kidding?!
I've ID'd cow parsnip here in Ohio, but never touched it.
Dang. Scars?!
Does it itch while it's working on you like poison ivy?
