I love how they do the tails!
Wowhatacow!
Mooo!
Why do they desire a straight back?
A few curves here and there seem more natural. They're not cemented in place are they (joking)
Udder delight.
Love the pictures
Lisa, I love doing tails! At shows that is....It is so much fun to get them all fluffy and teased up
FC, She is something isn't she!
Keith, lol, gotcha, they are all amazing cows and I love to look at them.
For each desirable trait there is actually a logical, functional, reason. The nice straight top line, or back if you will, makes a difference in reproductive health and the animal's strength and ability to last. I won't get into too much embarrassing detail, but is important that the uterus, suspended under the hips, be tilted in the right direction, etc. so the cow can maintain a pregnancy. The large body capacity allows room for a big, effective digestive tract and lungs to power all that goes on in the cow, plus leaving room for a calf to develop...Good feet and legs allow the cow to ambulate to eat, drink and get around. I could go on and on until your eyes cross, the legacy of coaching Dairy Bowl, but none of it is actually about being pretty. It is all about function.
