Dani, a member of the blackbird family, common here in the summer nesting season and fall small grain harvest. Really pretty and interesting birds.
Jan, a small grain a lot like corn only about a sixth the cost to plant and harvest. We used to grow corn, but can't afford to any more thanks to the ethanol market. Thanks for your kind words on the pics. Alan texted me to come up in the field and take pics of him chopping. It was a gorgeous day so I did.
Cathy, You are so right. My brothers both grew up working for farmers, although we don't come from a farming family. They are both amazing capable men. And Alan does what is needed whatever it is. As to the sorghum, it gets even bigger. Up on the hill it was over the top of the cab of our biggest tractor. You are supposed to harvest it when it is short, but this godawful weather has prevented that. Still is preventing harvest dagnabit.
