But smart. Here is a great idea from a farmer/rancher guy that is so simple it seems obvious and yet I had never seen it done or thought of it and I'll bet many other folks hadn't either. He simply floated an old basketball in his water tank so he could see if it needed to be filled. Brilliant!

Where is the "like" button? Now this is published we will have the FDA coming to test the water in the tanks for Chemicals from China in the Basketball... or something else to prove they are working.

You're so lucky. I think city chickadees have more options and just flit over to some stealthy neighbor who's offering a better smorgasbord ;)
Cathy, I think it is just the four tame ones that remind me. I think they are the result of generations of birds hatching on the porch in the little bird house and being as accustomed to humans and canaries singing for their breakfast in kitchens. They follow me up to Alan's stove thingie too, gleaning among the left over apples, and chirping at me. I love them.
