Waitin' on Sunrise
Have to take the dog for his walk and get busy on the day, but it is pit dark out. The old boy has taken to wandering willfully to places he can't find his way back from, so I'll wait until I can at least see a dim outline of his lumbering black self out there on the lawn. He likes to get himself stuck in the pony yard and bumble around crashing into the gates. At least then I can hear him and thus come to his rescue.
We got a little cautiously good news on our dear aunt yesterday. Even guarded optimism is a huge step up from utter gloom. Thank you for your prayers and if there is room on your list we would be grateful for any you can continue to spare for her and for Liz's husband who is facing surgery in an hour or so.
Meanwhile our boy came home a couple of days early from the big capitol job because he needed to see his great aunt....such a mixture of feelings. At the time he made the trip the doctors were not at all positive and suggested that he come.
So the sadness was deep.
And yet we hadn't seen him in five weeks. I don't know how to describe the joy of actual real hugs from our actual real son. I still can't get used to how wonderful it feels to have him in the same area code as us.
And that's life in a nutshell I guess...fear, sadness, and sorrow, mixed with great joy and wonder. It is best taken one day at a time and savored as well as possible.

No need to, Marianne . . . we parents understand.
More prayers and warm wishes for comfort and recovery for those beloved family members.
As parents we understand. More prayers for you and your family.
Magic thoughts always seem to work!

Cathy, it is so good to have him home! I wasn't letting myself dwell on missing him because letting go of our children is part of life. however, welcoming them back home is part of life too, a deep, pure joyous part! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Linda, thanks! I do firmly believe in prayer and have this quirky idea that we are somehow cosmically connected to those for whom we pray or who pray for us....
