Truck Pull
Entirely by accident I attended my first truck pull yesterday. Becky and I volunteered for our annual four-hour shift in the dairy promotion booth and Alan was my chauffeur. When we were finished he was still at the pull so I joined him to wait for a ride home.
It was surprisingly entertaining. I have been to a couple of tractor pulls and they are vividly exciting, but so absurdly loud as to leave folks with any respect for their hearing running for the hills with their hands clapped over their ears.
Since I hope to continue to be able to hear the birds around me, I refrain from partaking.
However, we watched one class of trucks and a couple of exhibition tractors and it was kind of fun.
***If you haven't made it to the fair yet, this is the last day. The open draft horse show is on and is always a thriller. There is nothing quite like those gigantic horses thundering around the arena for excitement and fun. Not sure yet if I am going to make it, but go if you can; you'll have fun.

Charity Tractor Pull is
Still on, never mind the weather. Head on over to the fair grounds for the day. The sun is going to shine and folks are waiting to show you a good time and some thundering metal monsters dueling it out in front of the grandstands.

Pulling for Flood Victims
Here is the latest on on the big benefit tractor pull coming up on the 29th and 30th at the Fonda Fair Grounds. I am praying for good weather for this unprecedented event. It is going to be amazing with pullers coming from as far as Texas.

Benefit Tractor Pull
At the Fonda Fair grounds October 29th and 30th. This sounds like it will be a tremendous amount of fun for pulling fans with proceeds going to flood victim relief.
***Thanks, Scott for the HT

The Iron Eagle
Photo via Alan's cell phone. We milked early last night so the guys could go to the pull at Boonville....which meant starting early this AM so the cows were comfy.....does this mean we can start (and thus get done) early tonight?
****Update, a full pull at the Broome County Fair, then won the pull off.

Red Neck Tractor Pull
I don't post too many videos because I know they are hard to load with slower connections. However, this one, of the famous pulling tractor, the Supernatural, was simply irresistible! Do watch...all the way to the end. It is just too cool.

The Guys are off To Dansville
Big brother is taking Alan and the boss to the big tractor pull at Dansville today. Alan got up at three-fifteen and got the cows in. They were not at all in favor of that. Cows love routine and they resent and protest change, especially being asked to come in to the barn a couple of hours early. It took him over an hour to get them down. Then the boss and I helped him milk them.
I am hoping the guys have a great time at the pull...the girls and I will milk tonight without them.
***Update, the Dansville tractor pull was canceled and the man are back :(
This rain has a lot to answer for!! The guys got all the way to Syracuse before they found out.

Excitement at Dansville
Check out the second tractor to run in this video from the 2009 Dansville tractor pull.
Alan is lucky enough to know the crew and driver (as do the rest of us actually) and got to go to the pull and be up close and personal with the behind the scenes action (thanks to someone whose privacy I will respect, but the kid is very grateful). Needless to say he had a heck of a time!
