Cammo
A team of white-throated sparrows, chickadees and some dark-eyed juncos were scouting the bushes near the house yesterday. It was a dull day and they are not so bright colored, so I could barely see them in the view-finder. I heard the first Sam Peabody call from the white throats the other day. Guess they are wishing for spring as well.
What delightful little neighbors. They do remind us that spring will come someday.
We get birds that migrate down from the mountains. I think about feeding them, but I have so many insects in my yard that I think the birds should work for their living.
rurality, it is so nice to hear them...cheerful and spring like. I can't wait to hear their cousins, the White-crowned sparrow. Then I will know it is spring. Congrats on the Towhees!
Joated, I am sure ready for spring!
Jen, thanks for vising and thanks so much for the kind comment.
Jan, I really enjoy the birds! They seem to hang around whether I feed or not, but the chickadees in particular let me know that they expect my attentions.
Cathy, I echo that sentiment. I was thinking today how hard it is to imagine that there are flower seeds out there in the ground and spring bulbs and tree buds all waiting for the season to finally get here.

These guys are one of the few who will sing a little for us here in the winter.
I've been hearing a few Towhees singing this week though!
When the White Throats start singin at night it will be spring.

Oh! Lucky you to have heard a snippet of that sweet song. C'mon Spring!
