We are having thunderstorms every day. Sometimes several. Beck and I went to the library and Stewart's yesterday and raced home because they were talking tornado warnings over in town. I didn't see any myself but it was hailing when we got home. It was weird to cross the river bridge. The sun was shining brilliantly on one side, although the clear blue water was white capped.
On the other side leaves and branches that had broken off were lashing across the road. The sky was thick with ominous grey clouds and hurtling rain. You could barely discern the difference between the surface of the river itself and the rain that was dashing into it.
Sunset was weird. Unrelieved textureless grey clouds with just a round yellow ball dripping through them down to the horizon. It was so unusual that we all ran to look at it, even our milk tester who was here testing last night. It spotlighted the flowers kind of nicely though.

We had 17 people hit by lightning here recently from that sort of storm. It was sunny and calm where they were standing.
It might have been weird but it was very pretty. could you send some of those showers down this way?!
What a beautiful sunset! I love watching the sun show up through rain clouds - although I'm sure you've seen enough rain clouds lately to last you a long time!

yes, we've had way more than our share of crappy weather...i feel bad for you, it doesn't affect me like it does the farmers...we need summer to begin...NOW!
before we know it summer will be half gone and not even started yet!
Great pictures!! We had horrible down pours but not hail!!! I really would love to have more than just 2 days of no rain and warmer weather!!
You caught some great shots here of the storm clouds and the lovely sunset glow.
Funny thing, last year on the day the tornado hit near us, later on there was a sunset similar to what you described.....with a round red ball glowing below gray clouds. So strange to see that after the terrible storm which had just passed through.
i'd be really worried if i was driving towards that storm! eeek

Jeanelle, thanks. I hate tornado weather. We had a close call summer before last when a hook came down out of a cloud just northeast of here....that one never came down.

The weather is always such an interesting subject. I suppose it is because we all live so close to the land that weather is part and parcel of what we do every day.
These photos were amazing. And I'm glad you were NOT caught in a tornado!!!
We too are having rain. More rain than normal.... we are also experienceing signs that an early fall and a hard winter are on the way. (Sigh. Double Sigh)

Linda, what a summer. We went to a FB meeting last night and on the way saw friend's corn that had been positively slashed to bits by hail from the same storm. I think it will recover, but what a shame!
June, thanks, that is a roof line in the little town across the river. I thought it looked cool against the backdrop of the approaching storm, but it took a lot of cropping to cut out all the power lines.
