Last of the Coneflowers |
First Moonflower. Thank you Linda! |
First Heavenly Blue, first thing this morning |
Last Ruby-throated Hummingbird? Ours have been gone for a while, so this one and her partner are probably passing migrants I put the feeder back out, just in case the cannas run out of nectar |
They were tremendously hungry and mostly ignored me |

YAY! That is one GIANT Moonflower! I am so glad that it bloomed for you!
I have not seen any hummers for a few days, but after reading this I decided to keep my feeder up .... maybe there will be a straggler or two.
I remember seeing a big patch of Cardinal Flower along the Hudson that seemed to be humming with bees. But it turned out to be a couple dozen Hummingbirds all fueling up for migration and for once, not feuding with each other at the feeders, the way they did all summer. I guess they get along better when they migrate. Beautiful Morning Glory! I stopped planting them because I wouldn't get any blooms until nearly fall, when the days were so short the flowers wouldn't open until afternoon. Lovely photos!
Linda, thanks again. I saw another hummer this morning, zooming through the cold, grey fog.
Jacqueline, Wow, what a sight to see so many hummers. The most I have seen at once was four or five at a friend's house. Awesome!
